Three Relay Technologies
Electromechanical Relays
Pros: High current, true isolation, low on-resistance. Cons: Slow (5-15ms), limited cycle life, audible clicking.
Reed Relays
Pros: Fast (0.5-2ms), 100M+ operations, excellent high-frequency isolation. Cons: Lower current (typically ≤1A).
Solid-State Relays (SSR)
Pros: Silent, no moving parts, very fast, unlimited cycles. Cons: Higher on-resistance, leakage current.
Quick Decision Guide
| Requirement | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Switching <1A, fast, high isolation | Reed Relay |
| High current (10A+), motor loads | Electromechanical |
| Silent operation, high cycles | Solid-State |
